P.S.55's Theater Arts Program presents Frozen Jr.

Today our students took the stage for the first time since 2019 to perform in our musical production of Frozen Jr. We can’t wait until our performance tomorrow evening. Tickets will be available at the door if you are interested in attending. We would like to sincerely thank Ms. Puliafico, Mrs. Pascale, Mrs. Paz and Ms. Poidomani for their hard work and dedication. Our show would not be possible without them!

Our Learn-To- Ride Strider Foundation Bike Program

Kudos P.S. 55! The students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through first grade have been engaged in a six-week Learn-To-Ride Strider Foundation Bike Program in Physical Education.  Join Mrs. Caputo and Mrs. Saccaro as they celebrate their students' goal-directed behavior coming to fruition!  Through the support of the Strider Bike Foundation, they were able to guide their students in reaching each of the following success criteria: propelling a bike by running, pushing and coasting while using balancing and gliding skills. We are so grateful for the opportunity that the Strider Foundation has given us. Our students have learned life-long valuable lessons which encompass physical growth using balancing, eye-hand coordination, spatial awareness, safety and confidence to achieve goals, be optimistic, build relationships, use self-awareness and self-management skills.  Hooray! Hats off to our awesome students.  Thank you parents for your support and for fitting your children with helmets that instill that  safety and fun go together!

Congratulations Mrs. Roman!

Dear Families,
I would like to inform you that Mrs. Dawn Roman has joined our administrative team as an Assistant Principal. She has been preparing for this moment for many years and we are excited to bring her on board. This is her 18th year in education and that experience is evident in the way that she teaches and how she connects with her community. Since joining the PS55 family 8 years ago, she has been a Teacher Leader, a Peer Collaborative Teacher, an Instructional Coach and of course a classroom teacher.

Mrs. Roman has been an integral member of the School Cabinet, which focuses on taking feedback from different constituencies and making decisions regarding school policy. She knows the vision and culture that has been part of our school, and she will continue that work, moving us forward.

We first announced her appointment at the School Leadership Team Meeting, and the PTA meeting, this past Tuesday, but wanted to make sure the message went out to everyone. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Roman.
Sincerely,
Sharon Fishman, Principal
Paul Giordano, Asst. Principal
