Head Lice Information

   What do you do if your child has head lice?  Do you need to know how to check for lice?  Want to avoid getting lice?   Review the information posted here:

Head lice occurs commonly among school-age children. Head lice are not a sign of poor hygiene and anyone can get them. Lice do not transmit infections and do not endanger a person’s health.

 Lice pass from person to person by direct contact or by sharing clothing with lice on them. Head lice cause itching, commonly at the back of the head and neck or behind the ears. Many effective creams and shampoos are available over the counter or by prescription from your doctor.

 You can help the school by checking your child's head regularly.  Remind your child never  to wear other children's hats, coats and /or hair bands and combs.

Keep long hair up or tied back 

If your child does get lice, please contact the school. Do not send him or her back to school until treatment is complete and your child is lice-free. 

 IF YOUR CHILD HAS HAD LICE, HE/SHE MAY NOT RETURN TO SCHOOL UNTIL THE PRINCIPAL'S DESIGNEE HAS CHECKED AND DETERMINED THAT THEY ARE CLEAR TO RETURN.
